Bonus Encounter 12: Stanton T. Friedman

UFO legend Stanton T. Friedman has passed away at age 84. These are just some thoughts I had this evening, reflecting on his work and influence.

Obituary at Coast to Coast AM, by Tim Binnall

Stanton T. Friedman is Real, a short film by Friedman’s nephew, Paul Kimball.

  1. Though I think he was in error on some issues and intransigent on others where his conclusions seemed to be on shaky ground, Friedman nevertheless was one of the last true “gentlemen” in Ufology. He was never vicious, vindictive or downright nasty, which can’t be said about a few of his contemporaries.

Though I never had the opportunity to meet or even hear him in person, throughout his UFO career he always appeared to be warm, friendly, good-natured, considerate, and tolerant . . . Ufology’s kindly Uncle Stan. He will be missed.

Ufology could use one or two more Stanton Friedmans. Come to think of it, so could all the rest of rest of US society.
