In this Encounter, we’re looking at a few examples of what was out there on the earlier, pre-www Internet. From jokey posts clearly not meant to be taken seriously, to intriguing supposed revelations of “the truth,” Usenet, and specialty networks like the Paranet BBS, many of use who are now fairly elderly, started our Saucer Lives with resources like these.
A memorial site for the late Michael Corbin of Paranet
A huge collection of text files from the old Paranet BBS

There’s a great archive of various text files that used to haunt the “g files” sections of BBSes in the ’80s and early ’90s here:

Just finished your Bill English episode, really looking forward to listening to the rest. As a lifelong (skeptical) UFO enthusiast, I’ve recently become interested in that period between 1987-1989 when so much of the modern-day folklore originated. I’m fortunate to have stumbled upon your podcast, since it seems you cover exactly what I’m looking for. Sifting through the old Paranet archives has been a fun time capsule. This “UFO Guide” from 1994 has been a useful snapshot in time for keeping names and events straight.
