Encounter 507: The Hollow(ed) Earth

We finish up our “90s Strike Back” series with The Hollow(ed) Earth, an examination of the explosion of “Underground Alien Base” tales that proliferated during the 1990s, specifically, the supposed base at Dulce, New Mexico. Battles between brave Americans and evil grays, shady suicides, confusing pseudonyms, it’s all here! After you’re finished listening, here’s some reading to keep you digging:

  1. Dulce underground base is prominently used as a plot-point in the series of popular Sci-fi books know as the “Area 51” series buy Bob Mayer; – “The Area 51 series is a series of science fiction and thriller novels written by the New York Times Bestselling novelist and a well known American author, Bob Mayer under the pseudonym Robert Doherty. ” – There are nine in the main series and two sets of spin-off series. I have read maybe 5 or 6 of the main series before giving up, but my understanding is that they were / are quite popular and probably help keeping Dulce base in the Zeitgeist.
