In the past 10 years or so Japanese pop culture anime, manga etc has been overrun by stories about people dying and then being reincarnated in some fantasy world. The most common (cliche) cause of death in such stories is… automobile accident.
Regarding Shoichi Harukawa’s psychic training regimen which is staring at a wall until the vision gets blurry. The method itself lacks gravitas- but to his credit he’s not charging for it.
